Greenane Farms is pleased to offer CSA shares for new members year round.  Our program offers members access to wholesome, natural, organic, and local foods at a great value and at the same time supporting local farming. 

Greenane Farms of Meredith is a highly diversified family farm practicing natural and sustainable agriculture.  Our diversity allows us to offer a wide variety of farm fresh and wholesome food products to our CSA members and our relationships with other local farms allow us to include other local foods which we don’t produce but which pass our rigorous measures and requirements.  Find out more about Greenane Farms at or on our Facebook page at

Greenane Farms' Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program offers a direct, fun way to connect with our farm and other farmers like ours, while ensuring a steady and ever-changing supply of seasonal, local, naturally and organically grown produce, fruit, meats, dairy products, baked goods, sauces, salsas, and more. A weekly share of fresh, wholesome and natural food is just the beginning of what our CSA is all about. Membership brings a chance to connect with the farm and farmers. Farm newsletters and our Facebook page provide periodic updates, progress reports, and outline opportunities for farm visits and participation in farm events and activities.

CSAs provide a tangible way to understand and promote land stewardship and the seasonal cycles of local agriculture. They also offer a way to participate in the larger ecosystem of farming: the community that supports small-scale, local food production. In true partnership, CSA members share the risks of agriculture with farmers, ensuring that even in the event of unforeseen circumstances farmers' livelihood will be secure.  Such risks are minimized through smart growing, diversification, and the partnerships we maintain with other farms that share our philosophies and agricultural practices. The first rule in sustainable agriculture is that a farm must generate enough income to farm again next year.  We could not do this without our CSA member’s steadfast support.  In the spirit of our commitment to the traditions of CSAs and food coops, your membership shows we're all — farmer and consumer — connected.

CSA Mechanics

Some of you may already be familiar with or even have participated in a CSA.  You will see that we are a little bit different than most and have deviated from the pure sense of the traditional CSA in response to the needs and real life circumstances that we all face in these difficult economic times.

Because of Greenane Farms’ diversity and relationships we are able to offer a unique opportunity to our members to choose from numerous CSA categories in various food groups, or can pick and choose individual items from our ever-growing list of farm products.  When you click to join you will find a large number of CSA categories and a huge number of individual items from vegetables and cuts of meat to prepared meals that are ready to cook or heat that you may choose from.  It is kind of like a supermarket full of great products from small family farms in Upstate New York.  You may pick and choose categories and individual items that you want to be included in your CSA delivery.  We encourage you to select a wide variety of items, most likely the types of items you are already buying the grocery store, but buying them from the CSA provides the greatest amount of support to our farm and best ensures its sustainability.

 Signing Up - When you sign up, a secure, online member profile is created for you with your share options, your pick-up location, and your account activity. You can view and edit your account, change your pick up location, credit card info, or password and even place a vacation or suspension hold just by signing in to your account.

IMPORTANT:  Once you have signed up your subscription will AUTOMATICALLY RENEW unless YOU tell us to stop or cancel your subscription.  If for example you sign up for 6 months your subscription will AUTOMATICALLY renew at the end of 6 months unless you cancel.  This applies to everyone.

Commitment & Payment
The “Support” in Community Supported Agriculture is intended to make members an integral part of the success of the farm. You share the bounty of our harvest; the great wholesome, natural foods we raise and produce and you also share in some of the inherent risks of farming. Your commitment to the CSA is what allows the farm to function. Your share price is the money we use to pay the up-front costs of the season’s production and as such we need your money up-front.
Nearly all other CSA's required a full season’s commitment and payment from CSA members. We do ask those that can to please make an upfront payment of thier CSA membership.  At minimum we ask all members to stick with us for a full season.  That gives members the opportunity to really give us and the CSA lifestyle a real chance.  However, we understand all too well the difficulties of our current economy. For those members that cannot make a single six month payment up front, we ask that you pay what you can but at least make single monthly payments in advance of deliveries.  In all cases you are responsible for paying in full for those items delivered.

Payments - We prefer to receive checks for your membership as there is no additional costs involved.  We do however accept electronic checks, and we can also bill your Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card with your membership or the same day your CSA shares are delivered. It’s automatic and you will get a statement by email. We do not store any of your personal or financial information on our website. Our order site is run by Farmigo and your information is stored securely by  No one at the farm will have your payment details, credit card information, or bank account information.

Picking Up Your Order - Please remember to pick up your order or have a friend or family member do so. When you pick up at your selected location, check in at the front desk and they will tell you where to go. Every location is laid out a bit differently. Please be sure your name is checked off the list when you pick up.

Missing Your Pick Up - If you miss your pick up, call your pickup location to let them know what time you will be in to pick up your box.  Our pick up locations are our partners in distribution and they have agreed to hold your box for the day.  If they do not hear from you and you forget or are not able to pick up your box, it will be donated to an interested party or facility, such as a Food Bank. If you pick up late you are fully responsible for any product that may be lost to thawing or improper temperature storage.  We’re sorry but we cannot give a credit for items that are not picked up; but don’t worry, the food will not go to waste.

Changing Your Pick Up Location - If you want to change your pick up location, please do so 48 hours before your pick up time. If you switch and then want to switch back, you’ll need to log into your account again to do so; also 48 hours before your pick up time.

Vacation and Suspension Holds - You may put your delivery on hold by logging into your account. Please do this before midnight on Sunday for the coming week. You will not be charged while your delivery is on hold. For emergencies, call Patrick at 804-301-7247 or email her at This email address is being protected from spambots. Communications - Greenane Farms will communicate with you from time to time via email to inform you of a payment or to remind you of a scheduled pick up. Sometimes we will need to send out alerts about your order or inform you about happenings on our farm. By becoming a member of our CSA, you are agreeing to open and read all email communications as soon as you see them since much of the information is time sensitive.  Do not however expect us to send you emails or make phone calls reminding you to pick up your CSA or reminding you to make payment.  We dont have enough family here to babysit everyone.  Please be responsible.

Cancellations - You may cancel your subscription at any time, giving us 1-week hours notice before your pick up day by calling Patrick at 804-301-7247 or sending him an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. Please request a confirmation email back confirming your cancellation.  Understand that when you cancel before being a member for 6 months, it is nearly impossible for us to recover the upfront costs we incur to bring you on as a member.  We would be very grateful if you can find a way to continue your active membership and deliveries for at least 6 months.

Delivery Cancellations or Rescheduling - on a rare occasion, and more likely in the winter, bad weather or the threat of bad weather forces us to cancel or reschedule deliveries.  We will notify members in such an event.  You will not be charged for deliveries we do not make.

Holiday Changes - We will do our best give you plenty of notice about holiday date changes.

Returning Your Box - Please return your box to your delivery location when you pick up your next CSA delivery. Many locations have box holders available.  

Privacy Policy - We do not sell, rent or give our email list, customer list or any personal /financial information to anyone. EVER!
